Originally part of the British Aerospace Strand Road site in Preston, this 2 ha (5 acre) site and the three detached buildings contained within it were transformed into the Preston Technology Management Park.
Initially established to try to retain some of the 4,000 high tech jobs that were lost when the site closed down, the initial development phase focused on the creation of a 3,716 sq m (40,000 sq ft) Technology Management Centre.
This centre was formed from the old stores building on the site, and was designed and converted to provide facilities needed in the ever-progressing world of Information technology.
Similar efforts were then focused on refurbishing the existing Apprentice Training Facility on the site, and ultimately the refurbishment of the flagship four-storey Strand Building at the front of the site.
